Welcome to Feature Fridays: Women in Business!
Every First Friday of the month, we are excited to shine a spotlight on the incredible women making a significant impact in the business world. From entrepreneurs and innovators to small business owners and industry leaders, these remarkable women are breaking barriers, inspiring others, and carving a path toward success.
Today I would love to introduce Ilana Gershon who is all about empowering women to feel energized in their everyday lives so they can show up as their badass selves.
What inspired you to start your business?
My own health journey. 8 years ago I was struggling to make it through the day. My kids were 4 and 1, I was trying to be everything to everyone, giving my best to my work, and my most loved ones got the rest of me. There was a moment when I had my breakdown which ultimately led me to take my health + wellness into my own hands and launch my business.
Looking at where you are now what would you tell your younger self?
I would tell my younger self that self-care is essential to living a healthy and happy life. And that things are going to turn out even better than you can imagine.
What is the biggest challenge you faced being a woman in business?
The biggest challenge I’ve faced is working through my own limiting beliefs around money, self worth, and having the courage to put myself out there.
What advice would you give an aspiring female entrepreneur who are just starting their journey?
Ignore the naysayers and only take on the advice of others who have been where it is you want to go in business and life.
In what ways do you believe women can uplift and empower each other?
I aspire to live in a world and build my business where women not only empower one another but cheer so loud other women can’t help but believe in themselves.
How do you handle setbacks and failures in your business, and what have you learned from them?
My biggest setbacks have been fuel to my biggest successes. For example, rejection used to cripple me. In fact, having the courage to open my mouth and ask others to take a look at what my business is all about used to terrify me. Developing the grit to persevere and continue to ask anyway has become one of my superpowers I now lean into daily.
How do you maintain self-care while running a business?
I don’t just preach self-care to others anymore. My own self-care has become one of the pillars of my every day without which I can’t show up as my authentic self. I nap when I need to. I prioritize healthy eating, staying hydrated, moving my body daily, skincare, massage, time away, reading, and doing whatever else makes my body and soul happy without any guilt or shame.
Is there anything else you would like to share about your journey to experience?
Lastly, I want to share this. You truly start to live your best life when you decide you’re worthy of all the selfcare you desire. Without needing to explain or justify yourself to anyone. Including yourself.
